The current Mercedes-AMG A45 S is reigning king in the so-called “hyper-hot hatchback” territory and it has dethroned the 5 pot Audi RS3. We know that Audi doesn’t take a loss that easily, especially with the world’s fastest hot hatch title and we can expect an all-new RS3 coming later this year or early 2021 as the new Audi A3 was just revealed weeks ago. For the time being, there has been a lot of renderings surfacing online which suggests how the design of the RS3 will be like.
Most of them take inspiration from the camouflaged 2021 Audi S3 which is being teased by Audi RS in various videos and pictures released online. The current RS3 is powered by a 2.5 litre turbopetrol 5-cylinder producing 400 hp (294 kW) & 480 Nm of torque. The A45 S produces 16 hp (12 kW) more than the current RS3 meaning the next RS3 will be way more powerful passing the 420 hp mark if need be. That being said, an RS3 Performance variant will produce even more horsepower than the standard RS3. The party of powerful hot hatches will be joined by the upcoming BMW M2 and M2 Gran Coupe even though they are not hot hatches but the pricing is around the same there.
The render of the upcoming Audi RS3 by Tobius Büttner is the one we would say that it is the closest design to how the model will look like. The front features a deeper front end, sportier air intakes, creases on the bonnet and when you move to the side there are huge RS wheels fitted on current RS models and a sporty side skirt. At the back, you are met with the traditional huge oval RS exhaust pipes and a mere sporty diffuser but it’s not that visible. The overall design reminds me of the current RS6 Avant which you can think of it as being the daddy of the RS3.
They’re also a few other renderings that have surfaced on the internet and most of them envision an aggressive-styled RS3 which is how Audi fans would like it to be. The new RS3 will probably go on sale next year and hopefully, it should come with the 2.5-litre engine.
