Here comes the Alfa Romeo that we have been waiting for and it took them long enough to even introduce it. This is the new track-focused Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA with a mad look and adjustments that make it an absolute monster. GTA means Gran Turismo Alleggerita which means Grand Tourer Lightened in English. It comes in two versions: the GTA and GTAm and the difference being that the GTAm has a massive rear wing and no seats at the back. The Giulia GTA has more lightweight material like carbon fibre and as a result, 100 kilograms of weight were shed off.
It is powered by the 2.9 litre twin-turbo V6 used in the Giulia Quadrifoglio but the engine produces 533 hp (398 kW) in this one and it is enough to take it from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. To make it handle better, the front and rear track have been widened by 50 mm and the suspension has been upgraded and stiffened for better handling. It rides on the same wheel design as the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio but with 20-inch wheels on.
The exterior design looks super wild with an aggressive front bumper coupled with an active front splitter which lowers for improved aerodynamics. The fenders are broadened to accommodate the extended wheel arches, the rear has twin exhaust pipes on the center courtesy of Akrapovic and a massive rear diffuser. The design is relentless and super attractive which kind of reminds me why BMW is trying to pull off the larger kidney grille on the new 4 series and it is evident that they are taking inspiration from the front design of the Giulia.
The interior design is beautiful. It is not too aggressive nor too showy. It blends well with the design language of this car. There is Alcantara material almost everywhere on the inside of this car. It is on the dash, door panels, pillars and the rear of the GTAm as there are rear no seats on this version and it comes with racing harness for the driver and passenger. This takes the fight to the Jaguar XE Project 8 and BMW M4 GTS, and if I were to choose between these cars, I’d probably go with the Alfa Romeo because it looks menacing and I am pretty sure it will drive as brilliant as Alfa Romeo says it is.
