It is hard to tell when the new BMW 4 Series will be revealed but as the Geneva Motor Show is nearing, we are pretty sure that BMW might consider unveiling before or at the show. Many spy photos that were caught during the course of November 2019 have hinted on how the upcoming 4 Series will look like. It has been heavily camouflaged but we can see that the shape of the 4 Series takes inspiration from the current BMW 8 Series Coupe.
We can at least see a glimpse of the light design and it suggests that it will take the design from the current BMW 3 Series G20 headlights. We fear that the flared, huge kidney grille on the BMW Concept 4 might be included in the production model. It might be possible that the huge kidney grille might only come on the BMW M4 variants, not the 4 series which would make sense.
Our guesses on what engine trims will be offered are a 420i, 420d, 430i, and 430d. There will be a high-performance M440i xDrive that will have the same B58 368 hp (275 kW) 3.0 litre turbopetrol 6-cylinder like in the M340i xDrive. An M440d variant is obviously on the books also as demand will be there to include it in production.
The BMW M4 is said to use the same engine that will be used in the upcoming M3 G80 which is the S58 3.0-litre turbopetrol 6-cylinder producing 475 hp (354 kW) on the standard model and 503 hp (375 kW) on the competition model. We are not sure if there will be a rear-wheel drive with a manual gearbox M4 like on the upcoming M3 G80.
There will be a Coupe model, a Gran Coupe model and a Convertible model which now has a soft-top instead of the hardtop. The 4 Series range has already been confirmed for South Africa and might be on sale in late 2020.
