It’s finally happening for BMW fans. No, it’s not a new BMW M car but an extension of a legendary BMW car, literally. The 8 series Gran Coupe has been in works ever since the AMG GT 4 door coupe was teased by Mercedes-AMG. Leaked images of the 8 Series Gran Coupe have surfaced on the internet and it gives us a great glimpse of the design look of the 8 series Gran Coupe. The reveal of the new 8 series Gran Coupe was scheduled for a special event in the second week of June and maybe that is where we would see the M8 Coupe and Convertible making their first public appearance.
The much noticeable appearance of the 8 series Gran Coupe difference from the Coupe is the extra four doors which makes up for a longer wheelbase, extra legroom and space for the rear passengers, and a presumably three-seat rear passenger setup as an option. The pictures only show the 8 series Gran Coupe having only 4 seats, this emphasizes that it will be the ultimate GT car. The M8 Gran Coupe concept quickly confirmed a Gran Coupe 8 series and M8 in works and we got to see how the legendary famed 8 series would look in those form factor.
The body looks so similar to a Porsche Panamera or maybe its better looking, but I cannot say the 8 series Gran Coupe is sleeker than the Panamera in terms of the body style. Both the front and rear doors are frameless for that unique design style and it looks like the boot won’t open like a hatchback type of boot. There will be much consideration taken into making the rear seats much comfortable as something like the rear seats of the BMW 7 series and will surely borrow some rear entertainment options from it.
The 8 series Gran Coupe will surely debut with the 4.4 liter V8 as the M850i and a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel as the 840d. We are sure that by the end of the year, the M8 Gran Coupe will already be revealed as that is the only M car that will take on the ever so impressive Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4 door coupe.
Expect the official unveiling of the 8 series Gran Coupe in a couple of days alongside the M8 Coupe and M8 Convertible.
