The hot hatch segment is about to get hotter as a new Ford Focus ST is expected to arrive next year in 2019. The Focus ST will get to shaken up things again between it and it’s rivals. It was spotted testing on various occasions, well in camouflage but now pictures have been leaked without any camouflage. As you can see in the pictures that it has been styled very much aggressively to set it apart from the normal Focus ST-line.

Rumours have been going around about what engine will power the new Focus ST. It’s a pretty slim chance that the Focus ST will use the newly developed 1.5 liter turbocharged 3 cylinder engine which is used in the Fiesta ST. More or less even if they use it, they might have to really tune it to produce a lot more power. But I’m betting that they will use the 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine from the Ford Mustang which is already disgraceful in an American muscle. My predictions are it might chunk out 200 kW which will put it side by side with the Hyundai i30 N which is already dominating the hot hatchback segment.

By now you might have figured out that the New Focus ST will come with a manual transmission only as Ford sells it’s customers enjoyable cars. But by now they should know that an automatic transmission should be considered to put it a lot further with other rivals. Judging by how it looks on these pictures, I’d say it looks rather spectacular. The yellow colour just brings out that beauty.

Another thing I’m thinking is it will borrow some various driving techs from the previously dropped Ford Focus RS. To be honest, the RS was a very brilliant car. Everything about it was just exciting, loved it to bits. Surely the Focus ST will share a soul with the Focus RS.

So what’s different on the 2019 Focus ST? Well firstly you will notice that the exhaust tips are no longer on the center but now there are double exhaust tips and one on each end. The front has been rapidly changed to give it an aggressive look. The interior looks very neat and the bucket seats look good.

In 2019 we will be expecting a lot of new exciting cars and we can’t wait to get our hands on the new Focus ST. It will be priced around R500 000 when it comes to South Africa to challenge it’s arch rival, the Volkswagen Golf 7.5 GTi or maybe the Golf 8 GTi would have arrived. I just know the ST will be a brilliant car!
