It’s a bit of a hefty problem when you want a decent saloon car but you want it to be fast. This cars tend to be very expensive such as the BMW 3 series, Mercedes Benz C-Class or Audi A4. Well, Hyundai has given much hope to people who are need in the market for such cars. Hyundai has taken the normal Elantra and tuned it to a sporty appeal. This comes at a very reasonable price of just R399 900. Don’t be so quick to think that a sporty Hyundai is just a waste of time. Hyundai has thought of all that and have considered all the specs and additions that the normal Elantra may need to be a sports car.

Well the Hyundai may not be as fast and sophisticated to drive as the Germans but it has enough power and looks to satisfy your needs. The engine is a 1.6 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, enough to fulfill your needs of speed. Talking about speed, the Elantra Sport can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/h thanks to a power output of 149 kW and 265 N•m of torque. The engine can be mated to either a 6-speed manual borrowed from the Veloster or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The numbers seem pretty impressive but people won’t know about that if you just passing by plus would you be able to turn heads in the Hyundai Elantra Sport?

The answer is, yes according to me though. The Elantra Sport’s exterior is very cool, I mean just very sporty as it should be. The exterior catches the eye very quickly thanks to the front aggressive black grille and front bumper which has sporty designed openings. There are the sporty side panels (side skirts) and 19″ double-spoke wheels. The rear is what represents the great look of sportiness with a very aggressive rear bumper and a two piped rhombus shaped exhaust tailpipes. The Elentra Sport has proven that it can look the part with it’s exterior looks.

Now with interior design, it’s very great. It has that sporty atmospheric feel into it. The interior has been well thought with some leather upholstery on the steering wheel, and seats. Talking about the seats, they are very lovely plus with the red colour they look very nice. Everything concerning the looks of the interior has reached the recquirements of sporty appeal.

As you buy the Elantra, you get a 8-inch infointainment touchscreen which comes with satellite navigation, USB/HDMI connectivity, Bluetooth telephony, music streaming and many more. The boot capacity is big enough to carry huge items. There is plenty of room for rear passengers and comfort for the passengers is very nice.

The suspension of the Elantra Sport has been stiffened to improve grip and traction. The suspension may be harsh but it’s worth it as handling is just a breeze for the Elantra Sport. It’s all well done to Hyundai for creating a very sporty car and they doing more with their upcoming hot hatch called the i30 N.

Reason why it has been nominated?

The Hyundai Elantra Sport has had consumers crying over it, it’s affordable compared to a equivalent German BMW 318i which is still much expensive. The Elantra Sport is applauded with the ability to be a combination of a family car and sports car whilst being good value for money.
